Guide To Successful Handicapping
(1) Try to experiment on those lower division leagues like div 1 team to get familiarise with those teams. You need them for cups and when they were promoted the next season.
(2) Is there a difference with betting on the picks you derieved or just pure plain picks?
Ans: Yes. There would be a difference. Have you ever tried picking and seems to get almost every picks correct but the moment you bet on those picks the results would turn otherwise. I believed it to be the unseen pressure built within oneself when it involves real money. How to curb the problem? Practise is the key.
My personal advice is to treat every matchday as an examination for yourself. Treat it as though as you are siting for an exam. The linesmaker as the person who sets the paper.
How do judge your own performance or monitor your progress?
(i) The most obvious ones are the no. of correct picks you could derieved.
(ii) The reflective stage- try to reveal the "what", "how", "why", "when" When you lose.
(iii) Lastly, after derieving the factors ,monitor if you have Correctly discover the true meaning behind it by predicting again using the factors you derieved. If you have discover the true factors pertaining to that particular league/cup the results should be straight wins. There should not be mixed results scenario like 3 win 2 lose or 2 win 3 lose kind of thing.
(3) If however there are negative results repeat point(2) and reformaulate new factors. Probably you have overlook on certain things, go through again or you have place in extra factors which is irrelevant to this particular league/cup try removing it maybe will results in positive results.
(4) Even, if you have got it right this season it doesn't make it a winning formulae for the
next season or yrs to come. Sad but is the truth the linesmaker is working hard against us and have not stop learning about gambler's behaviour so you got to keep note of that too. Once you realise there is a shift. You could stop betting or if you can't resit the temptation of betting try betting small to kill the itch. The key here is to be alert and be willing to change own handicapping methods when necessary.
(5) Try to expand on your area of expertise for instance you are gd at say english premeir league expand to other lg like german or france this will create a buffer incase the league you specialise in has a major shift in odds trends. The key is to have backup.
The good thing is however, the lines maker seldom changes the lines as long as there are fresh punters falling for their old tricks consider this if you are a teacher setting a paper for your students to sit, would you change the qns if your students keep failing. I doubt so unless they realised their qns/odds are ineffective.
